The gateway city of Guwahati is an absolute must on the itinerary of any visitor to to this part of the world. Its a commercial Hub for the entire region and an entry point the world of wonders. This erstwhile capital of Demon king 'Narakashura' of 'Pragjyotishpura' finds mention in the Great Indian Epic 'Mahabharata'. It is also the ancient land of 'Kamarupa' from which the present day name of Kamrup administrative district under which Guwahati city comes was derived. "Kama-Rupa" was the land where the Hindu god of Beauty, fertility and source of life was reborn. We explored as many nooks and corners of this delightfully interesting city as was possible in the four days that we were there. One can easily spend a week here... with every day being a new experience in itself!

The gateway to the North-Eastern States Guwahati is Situated on the Southern Bank of the mighty Brahmaputra river the son of Brahma. A reference of Guwahati has been mentioned in Kalika puran and Mahahbharata. In history, Guwahati was identified as 'Pragjyotispura' meaning the 'light of the East '. The Present Name Guwahati is apparently derived from 'Guwai' and 'Hatt' that mean batalnut market. Dispur the capital of Assam is in the heart of this city and it is a principal center of socio-culture , political , industrial , trade and commerce of the entire region . The largest Tea Auction market in India lies in Guwahati.

And also visit to Sualkuchi, the Manchester of Assam, Madan Kamdev, Hajo,a pilgrimage for both Hindu & Muslim ,Pobitora National Park may also be some of the good experiences.
