
Jaipur,
the capital city of Rajasthan is also called as the 'Pink City.' The city is
called the Pink City, because of its all pink painted houses and all the
ancient palaces and monuments built with the pink stone. The city flanked by
the Aravali hills from one side, is renowned for its colourful culture,
beautiful temples, massive forts and palaces. Jaipur city was built by the
great warrior and an astronomer, Raja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727. The city
was ruled Rajpur who were brave, chivalrous and great warriors. Today Jaipur
is a busy capital city, but it still retains its old-age charm along with
modernity.
Climate of Jaipur
The climate of Jaipur is extreme like other northern regions of India. The
climate is quite hot in summers, the max temperature during summers is 45°C,
while minimum temp is 25°C. The winters are chilly, max temp - 22°C,
min temp - 5 °C. The best time to visit the city is October to March.

The
City Palace - The palace situated in the heart of the city, is
also known as Sawai Jai Singh's Chandra Mahal (Moon Palace). The
architecture of this magnificent palace, is a blend of the Rajasthani and
Mughal architectural styles. The royal family still resides in a portion of
the palace, while a portion has been converted a Museum. The museum houses
the rare manuscripts, Rajasthani and Mughal miniatures, Carpets, Costumes
and Textiles, Arms and Weapons etc.

Hawa
Mahal - The palace was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap
Singh. The major landmark of Rajput rulers, the palace depicts the
traditional Rajput architecture. Overlooking the nearby streets, the five
storied building offers the spectacular views of the Pink city. The palace
was built for the ladies of royal household to allow them to view the
colorful bazaars and processions going across the city. A small
archaeological museum also lies inside the palace.
» Jantar Mantar - A major attraction the city, the
observatory is situated close to the City Palace. The stone observatory is
one among the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. It has a
collection of complex astronomical instruments, which still provide fairly
accurate information.

Amer Palace - The palace situated 11 Kms away from Jaipur, preserve its
old glory of Kachhawa clan. Situated amidst a picturesque hills, the palace
presents a delightful blend of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles. The
construction of the palace was started by Raja Man Singh I and was finally
completed by Sawai Jai Singh I. The palace built in red sandstone and white
marble has beautiful palaces, halls, pavilions, gardens and temples. Within
the palace the main attractions are Jai Mandir, Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Niwas and
Ganesh Pole.
» Jaigarh Fort - The spectacular fort also called as
the Fort of Victory, was built in 1726. Jaigarh Fort is located at a
distance of 15 Kms from Jaipur. Situated on a hilltop the fort has palaces,
granary, well-planned cannon foundry, several temples, a tall tower and a
giant mounted cannon known as Jaivan. The fort was built for the security of
Jaipur and Amber. The museum inside the fort has a good collection of arms
and other items. The fort provides the breathtaking views of the Amer Palace
and foothills of the Aravalli range.
Shopping
Jaipur city is the shopper's paradise. The city offers beautiful items like
jewellery, tie and dye sarees, leather goods and several other handicrafts.
Other items are textiles, local perfumes, shoes made of camel skin, brass
items, pottery, wood crafts etc.

(Shatabadi Exp) and evening (Intercity Exp).
