Vagator Beach
The Vagator beach, coupled with soft white coloured sands, black lava rocks enticed by the swinging coconut trees and the palms in the lush green landscape, is a wonderful sight for the visitors. It is the place where nature abounds in its own music and the sea can be seen changing colours from aquamarine to emerald green. The location around the beach is pleasant and cool, far from the disturbance of the city dwellers.

The beach, rich with its rural life is close to the fishing village of Vagator. Large number of fishermen in their traditional attire can be seen in the sea waiting for their prized hunt with their heavy nets, and children seen playing by the side of the dry docked boats.

The Vagator beach lies in solitude not much disturbed by the heavy pouring of the visitors. The sandy beach is a dream come true for the travellers who would like to walk the banks of the beach bare footed watching the silvery shimmering of the sea waves hitting the shores.

The crumbling palm fringe laterite seems like a long wall along the beach and can be seen till the beach ends. Swimming near the banks with out going too far in to the sea can be exhilarating, and even boating and fishing can be done with the help of the local fishermen available on the beaches for catching fishes. Several food joints are readily seen serving the sea fishes with a unique taste and other delicacies found in the sea.

» Vagatora Village - The Vagator village is a mixture of ramshackle farmhouses and picturesque old Portuguese bungalows scattered around the leafy lanes. The village is entered at the east from the Mapusa Road, which passes down a few small guest houses and restaurants before running down to the sea.

» Chapora Fort - Crossing the black lava rocks and moving upwards the steep stones, travellers can rest at the 500-year-old Portuguese fort, popularly known as the Chapora Fort. It reflects the heritage and reminiscence of the old Portuguese period giving a splendid view of the sea and hills enveloped with coconut trees and paddy fields of rice.

» Rural Life - The life at the beach is slow, cool, pleasurable, gentle and the over lapping sea water change its colours from aquamarine to sea emerald. The tiny cottages are garlanded with colours of lemon, purple and fuchsia, flags and crosses all giving a picture perfect for fantasy.
