Information about Vasco da Gama Goa

The
immaculate town of Vasco da Gama lies at a distance of 29 km southwest of
Panjim. The Portugues acquired the town in 1543 and at that time it was one
of the busiest ports on the western coast of India. The most fascinating
fact about the town is its geometrical planning. Vasco is also the oldest
railway terminus and today it is a chief shipping centre. Passengers and
tourists arrive here to catch buses to the Dabolim airport. This well laid
out town ropes in a large number of tourists from all corners.

There are no extremes in temperature. Temperature in summers can rise up to
a maximum of 30 degrees centigrade. November to Februrary is the winter time
and during the period temperature drops down to a minimum of 3 degrees

» Bogmalo
Beach - Fringed with palm trees, the Bogmalo beach offers

» The Naval Aviation Museum - With an engaging
backdrop of the Bogmalo beach, the museum attracts huge crowds. It was
inaugurated in 1998 at Dabolim and happens to be the first Naval museum in
Asia. India Naval Aviation, aircraft, weapons and related equipment are on
display.
» Shree Damodar Temple -

Shree
Damodar Temple is located in the heart of Vasco and is a must-visit for the
locals as well as for the foreigners.
